Spring in the Northwest (a run in the rain with Laurie Lewis)

Dear Northwest,

I can’t stop thinking about you. I know everyone says you’re grey and moody, but it’s not true, and even if it is, I don’t care: you’re beautiful anyways. I wake to the brittle brightness of another Ontario morning, and think of your softness. Nobody here understands how depressing these bright clear cold days are; how by asking nothing of me, your closed skies open endless avenues. I can’t wait to see you again.

Yours truly,
Simon

Well, fellow Northwesterners, hopefully that little confession didn’t make you feel too awkward; I’m just glad to be coming back to where I’m from for a bit, and it seemed fitting. And, more to the point, I and my bandmates are excited to be playing shows with the legendary Laurie Lewis! We of the Bee Eaters will be in your neck of the woods for the next two weekends, playing shows from Canyonville to Bainbridge Island. We’ve looked forward to this opportunity to collaborate with Laurie for a long time; she’s one of our favorite singers and song writers, and we’re really excited about the way our sounds come together.
